Hyperion Consultants

Technology is an enabler, but to succeed it requires alignment between people, processes and systems. Only then can it deliver sustainable value to your organisation.

At the core of our business is consulting.  One of the biggest challenges in business today is disconnect between organisational needs and information technology solutions: solutions are implemented by people who simply do not understand business requirements.
At 8th Man, many of our consultants come from a financial and accounting background, which means they have the skills and ability to work with your internal teams and to guide them in systems implementation.

The in-depth functional knowledge our consultants have allows them to quickly understand your business requirements and model them into a system design. This combination of business expertise, product knowledge and IT skills ensures an optimal implementation covering the full project lifecycle. Most importantly, it delivers a solution that works for your business

Our approach to Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) is pragmatic: we aim to strike a balance between process change and technology enablement. It’s an approach based on years of experience in delivering EPM success stories.

Hyperion System Selection

Choosing the right software is critical. We help you to identify the solution that is the best fit for your business. Most products will meet 80 – 90% of your business requirements, but the trick is to identify the solution that minimises the level of customisation required to meet the specific needs of your organisation. This keeps cost of ownership down and ensures that system knowledge is easily transferable.

At 8th Man, we analyse the exact and detailed requirements of your business and identify the key processes that are unique to your organisation. In addition to that, we engage with your people to learn about their technology preferences so that we understand how they like to work.

In this way, we can help you decide which product to select and show you the outcomes and benefits of your choice. Our many reference sites are available for you to visit, so that you can have further reassurance that you are making the right decision.

Hyperion Implementation

In our experience, a blended team approach in which our people work with your internal project team is not only key to project success, but is also the most cost-effective development model. Think about it this way: your knowledge of your company, its business and your processes together with the product and technical knowledge of our teams is a winning combination. Our approach concentrates on knowledge transfer and on risk mitigation.

The steps we follow are:

Design – The Design work stream effectively translates your business requirements into a system design specification that is flexible, secure and optimised for performance. This system design will be signed off by all stakeholders prior to developing the application and represents the first development milestone of locking down the scope.

Build – The Build work stream involves developing the application as defined within the system design specification, including business logic, input forms and output reports. In essence this work stream includes all aspects of getting to go live, with the exception of acceptance testing, training and initial go live support.

Acceptance – The Acceptance work stream consists of three discrete areas of system acceptance that are performed in a parallel timeline to the application build. These are: performance acceptance of the architecture and system performance, data acceptance of data reconciliation, and end-user acceptance by the business.

Training – The Training work stream involves educating the users and super users in the processes and functionality of the application. Training may be delivered in a classroom environment or using computer based or web based training.

Support – The Support work stream provides your team with guidance and support in setting up an efficient support process and providing knowledge transfer to the team during the initial support period.
